13th LONDON ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL


Come this March and Tongues on Fire will be all set to cut open the 13th Annual London Asian Film Festival on 18 March, 2011 at the British Film Institute (BFI), Southbank. The ten-day festival which takes place at Apollo Cinema, Piccadilly Circus honors films based on social messages from different South Asian countries including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Several films in the line-up have received accolades at the Cannes Film Festival and other major international film festivals.

Highlights of this year's London Asian Film Festival include :
  • Costume Design Master Class at BAFTA with Academy Award winner and Indian Cinema's most well-regarded Costume Designer Bhany Athaiya.
  • Screening and talk by Anusha Rizvi, director of Peepli Live (India's official entry to the 2011 Oscars)
  • Hollywood actor / producer Heather Burns screening her film Ashes at BAFTA and attended by several Bollywood stars.
  • Short film competition showcasing the remarkable work of aspiring film-makers.
  • Tongues on Fire inaugural lecture at the Brunei Gallery, SOAS, marking the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day.
